Utica is gearing up for the summer season, with a Bagg’s Square concert series and Juneteenth celebration on tap later this month.
Free outdoor concerts at Handshake.City start this Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. and will continue on Thursdays through July 1 as part of the Performers in the Park series. Handshake.City is located at 26 Whitesboro St.; the series also features art demonstrations, spoken word, outdoor activities, food trucks and locally made goods for sale.
Blues, rock and jam group Uncle Charlie and the Meatballs kick things off Thursday, with a mural creation by Tony Thompson. A new band in the Utica scene, Handsome Bob, will play rock, pop and punk music.
