JUNIATA TERRACE Juniata Terrace Borough Council has composed a letter, which it sent to both Lewistown Borough Council and the Municipal Authority of the Borough of Lewistown. A copy of the letter was sent to The Sentinel for publication.

The Borough of Juniata Terrace is reaching out to state our disappointment from the recent actions that have taken place on behalf of the Lewistown Borough Council and the Water Authority (MABL). It was our impression that a Memorandum of Understanding had been brokered to transfer the assets of MABL to create the Mifflin County Water Authority, which by doing so would have benefitted each of our municipalities that offer the services of the Water Authority to our residents. We were understanding of the profit that Lewistown Borough would gain from this agreement, and showed full support of this plan due to it being an

¯Reportable Vehicle Accident– On Jan. 18, at 7:14 p.m., officers from the Lewistown Borough Police Department were dispatched to the intersection of S Main and E Hale St for a reportable vehicle accident. Officers discovered that Damian M. Ritter, struck Jeremy M. Grose, while turning left from E Hale St. heading south on S Main St. Both vehicles had to be removed from the scene by Parsons Towing.
¯Warrent– On Jan. 22, at 3:59 p.m., Lewistown Police spotted Noah Koenig, 22, of Lewistown, walking on E. Water St. Koenig was known to have an active warrent out of Mifflin County. He was arrested and booked in on his warrent.
LEWISTOWN Taxpayers of Mifflin County will see no tax increase for the county portion of their taxes.
Commissioners adopted the 2021 budget during the board’s meeting on Tuesday.
“I’d like to acknowledge all the work the departments have done in getting through this process,” said Commissioners Rob Postal.
“We appreciate the cooperation of everybody. The cost of things never goes down. Your employment costs go up, all the taxes go up that you have to pay…But everyone worked together to make sure we could hold the line of no increases,” added Commissioner Kevin Kodish.
Also during the meeting, commissioners approved a resolution to again require residents of Mifflin County to wear face masks in local government buildings to slow the spread of COVID-19.

LEWISTOWN To meet the challenge of raising funds with limited human interaction due to the coronavirus, Mifflin County Habitat for Humanity volunteers have produced handmade, limited edition, numbered and dated Habitat House Ornaments, available for a suggested minimum donation of $20. The house ornaments are available at various locations as well as though the local Habitat website and by mail.
Like many organizations and businesses, Habitat for Humanity of Mifflin County has been challenged by how to engage in fundraising events for 2020 as a result of community health concerns. Despite this, Habitat is still hoping to begin construction on their next house in 2021, providing sufficient funds can be raised.
