Mid-Year Meeting | 10 May Report
World Sailing s Virtual Mid-Year Meeting commenced on Monday 10 May with the Equipment Committee and Events Committee both meeting.
The Equipment Committee, Chaired by Jurgen Cluytmans (BEL) met from 1000 - 1200 UTC before the Events Committee, Chaired by John Derbyshire (GBR), convened from 2000 - 2200 UTC. The meetings were the first of two the Committees will hold this week, with the next sessions scheduled for the same times on Tuesday 11 May.
The Equipment Committee moved through the early part of their agenda, available HERE, and did not discuss the submissions put forward for the 2021 Mid-Year Meeting.
World Sailing approve Committee and Commission appointments until 2024 Sunday, 7 February 2021
World Sailing has approved appointments for various Committees and Commissions for the period running from 2021 to 2024.
Positions were confirmed following the nomination of hundreds of individuals by World Sailing s member associations and then a review by the Board of Directors.
Key principles used to decide the appointments included relevant experience and expertise, good female representation, a strong geographical split, focus on emerging nations and new members to introduce new ideas.
World Sailing s Board of Directors then put forward a list of Committee and Commission members to the Council for ratification, which was unanimously approved.

2021 - 2024 Committee and Commission appointments approved
World Sailing s Council, the ultimate decision-making body of World Sailing, have approved the appointments to the Committees and Commissions for 2021 - 2024.
Members of World Sailing s Committees and Commissions are experts in their fields and include internationally renowned sailors, officials, coaches and administrators. Working within their terms of reference, they provide pivotal and expert guidance to World Sailing in the interests and the wellbeing of the sport worldwide.
World Sailing s Member National Authorities nominated hundreds of capable volunteers from around the globe. The Board of Directors carried out an in-depth review of their CV s bearing in mind a new set of new key principles they devised such as: relevant experience and expertise, good female representation, strong geographical split, focus on emerging nations and new members to introduce fresh thinking.
