Election 2020: Sene West only outstanding parliamentary seat now – EC

The Sene West parliamentary results in the Bono East Region are currently outstanding due to a court injunction. The EC cannot declare the results until the court has determined the case before it. 3 months jail, GH¢3,600 fine for Sene West ballot box snatcher lenient – Dr. Quaicoe Dr Serebour Quaicoe, Director of Electoral Services for the Electoral Commission (EC) has observed that the three months jail slapped on the 39-year-old ballot box snatcher at the Sene West constituency in the Bono East region is lenient. According to him, he would have expected the court to jail Christian Nukpeta who a resident of Tato Bator two years and a fine of GH¢6,000 with a life ban from taking part in elections. “I wish he was given two years, GH¢6,000 fine and banned for life. If you do not want the votes of others to be counted why should yours be counted?” he asked.

39-year-old fisherman sentenced for snatching ballot box in Sene West constituency

+ A 39-year-old fisherman has been sentenced to three months imprisonment for interfering in the just-ended elections at the Sene West constituency in the Bono East region. Christain Nukpeta who a resident of Tato Bator is reported to have snatched a Parliamentary ballot box at one of the polling stations in the area when the counting process was ongoing. He was subsequently pursued by some security personnel and arrested. But the retrieved ballot box was without the seal of the New Patriotic Party (NPP). Appearing before the Techiman Circuit Court presided over by Justice Alexander Graham, the accused pleaded guilty and was sentenced to pay a fine of GH₵3, 600 and in default, serve a six months imprisonment term.
