More than 200 people lost their lives to homicides in Hampton Roads last year, as the region experienced a spike in killings similar to those seen in some of the nation’s larger cities.
Eight days after Justice Dunham was shot in the Menchville High School parking lot after a basketball game, family and friends bent over his open casket, grief and reality sinking in.
"Justice was my hero," said his father, Mike Dunham. "Justice was a vibrant young man. He was an energetic young man. He was kind. He was compassionate."
The teenager charged with killing another student outside Menchville High School Tuesday told police several teens “jumped” him in the parking lot when he opened fire.
