Flaws in medical examination of Kevin murder convict
A Division Bench of the Kerala High Court has directed the Director, Health Services, to authorise a senior medical officer to conduct an inquiry into the allegation by the convicts who were assaulted by some officers of the Central Prison, Thiruvanthapuram, that the medical officer of the prison did not take note of the injures suffered by them during a medical examination.
The Bench comprising justice K. Vinod Chandran and Justice M.R. Anitha ordered that the inquiry report be placed on record within three weeks.

A Division Bench of the Kerala High Court on Wednesday upheld the verdict of the Kollam sessions court awarding life term to Aadu Antony, a convict in the case relating to the murder of a police officer Maniyan Pillai and attempting to murder K. Joy, an assistant sub-inspector .
The murder took place on June 26, 2012 in Kollam. The deceased policeman and Mr. Joy, both attached to the Paripally police station, were on night patrol duty at Kulamada when they were attacked by the convict.
Th Bench comprising Justice A. Hariparasad and Justice M.R. Anitha passed the judgment while dismissing an appeal filed by Aadu Antony against the the sessions court order.

Court for appointment of merit-based prosecutors
A Division Bench of the Kerala High Court on Wednesday slammed the police for faulty investigation into the death of two sisters in Walayar.
The Bench comprising Justice A. Hariprasad and Justice M.R. Anitha, while setting aside the acquittal of the accused in the case, observed that police officers investigating heinous crimes should be scrupulously honest and committed to their duties and responsibilities.
“An incompetent and insincere police officer is a disgrace to the whole police force in the State. It is high time for the political and bureaucratic executive to understand that inexcusable flaws in the investigation into serious offences will only bring disrepute to the administrative setup,” the court added.
