The Blair Oaks Falcons are a couple of offensive possessions away from being a 3-0 team. The California Pintos, on the other hand, are one play away from being a 3-0 team. The two Tri-County Conference rivals will clash tonight at the Falcon Athletic Complex, each looking for their third win of the season.
For almost any other pitcher, it would be considered a superb outing. But for Wil Libbert, Monday was just another typical start on the mound for him. The Blair Oaks left-handed pitcher went five-plus innings without allowing a hit to the Capital City Cavaliers. He struck out 14 of the 17 batters he faced, leading the Falcons to a 6-0 victory at the Falcon Athletic Complex.
Max Buscher was efficient Wednesday night. The Fatima senior right-handed pitcher threw 98 pitches in his second straight complete game. He limited the Blair Oaks Falcons to a pair of hits, leading the Comets to a 3-0 victory at Lions Field.
For a while, it seemed like the first inning might be the only good inning for the Blair Oaks offense this week. Fortunately for the Falcons, they had a breakthrough in the fifth and sixth innings Tuesday night. Blair Oaks took advantage of a few crucial errors and a few pitching mishaps to pull away to an 8-2 victory against the Eldon Mustangs in a Tri-County Conference matchup at the Falcon Athletic Complex.
For the longest time, it looked like one run would be enough. Just two batters into Monday’s game, the Blair Oaks Falcons led 1-0 against the Helias Crusaders. That remained the score until Helias sent the game to extra innings with a run in the bottom of the seventh, then won it 2-1 with a run in the ninth at the American Legion Post 5 Sports Complex. “When it got to crunch time, we performed,” Helias coach Chris Wyrick said.
