good morning. welcome to 11 news saturday morning. i m lisa robinson. and i m jennifer franciotti. we ll get to our top stories in just a minute. first we ll check outside with john collins. a little drizzly outside this morning. we are more vulnerable to rain now. yesterday it turned out to be a misty day. not much happened, and although it was wet, there was no real rain. you look at map. the satellite combination map, yeah, there is rain out there and showers on the eastern shore. other than that, everything is really a classic scattered rain showers, and not that much, except for that band we see on the eastern shore. that s the kind of day it s going to be today. the threat of rain is there. not all the time, but it will be over your head all week long. we ll talk about the details in the forecast not only for the weekend but the week ahead coming up. the rain headed our way is our big story. it will mean flooding for certain areas of maryland. the city dock
it won t be all rain all the time. there was little or no rain over the area. this morning it is confined to delaware. the atmosphere is misty out there. this afternoon we may pick up a thunderstorm. we ll detail it all in just a minute. one of those places is a city dock in annapolis. kai reid has more. it will be a few feet deep. it will roll in and out and then it is back to selling hotdogs. flooding here happens so often the owner expects it and works around it. now it is a regular occurrence. a couple times a month. houfers after the water receded for the day, you can still find deep puddles on dock street. businesses have dealt with flooding every day this week. department of public works warns flooding could reach three feet and gave owners sandbags. i have noticed a decline in business. business owners may be used to the problem, but it is a costly annoyance. our biggest concern is that is deterns customers. they keep us informed. we ll prepare as we n
he was tried and convicted and sentenced for his crimes in 1995, but years later, he argued that his lawyer failed him. his attorney did not tell him about a plea bargain offer that would have sent him to prison for only 10 years. a decision has sat in the hands of a federal judge since 2008, but today he made his ruling. the judge ruled that the attorney did fail him. he says that the state must not allow the plea deal. my question to this judge and to any other judge is, who is going to clean up the body of the child that this man is going to murder the next time that he writes a child. the statement was released. we are disappointed in the decision and we are determining whether to move forward with an appeal. she says she is prepared to fight. i cannot live with myself. if i do not know that i have done everything in my power to make sure that this man never sees the light of day. to the defense attorney died years ago after the initial trial and the state has 6
