LAUREL, Del.- Behind 28 points from Sophomore Dontarius Jones, the Laurel Bulldogs defeated Sussex Academy 66-44 to move to 4-4 on the year. Sussex Academy drops to 1-9 with the loss.
Just four days ago, these two teams matched up in Georgetown and the Bulldogs won 68-47. Missing a few key starters for the rest of the season, the Bulldogs dropped three in a row but it seems like the new starters are finally starting to gel together.
Sussex Academy looked like they were looking for revenge in the first quarter, only trailing by two, 10-8 to end the first quarter. After being tied at ten early in the second, the Bulldogs began to heat up. Four second quarter 3’s from Jones (18 points) and 12 points form big man Nifere Griffin, Laurel led 33-17 at the break.
