109 NBC workers dump Napwu - Labour

PHOTO: NAMPA KENYA KAMBOWE/OGONE TLHAGE RUNDU/WINDHOEK More than 100 Namibia Broadcasting Corporation (NBC) earlier this month defected from Namibia Public Workers Union(Napwu) to join a rival union, in a move described as a “vote of no confidence” in Napwu. The workers were allegedly not happy with the manner in which Napwu handled the month-long strike, with some saying the union did little to advance the interests of the workers. As it stands, the Public Service Union of Namibia (PSUN) is on course to assume the bargaining authority at NBC, a position held by Napwu since the formation of NBC.

PHOTO: NAMPA OGONE TLHAGE WINDHOEK President Hage Geingob’s head of security, Deputy Commissioner Johan Ndjaronguru, has opened a case of treason and assault against Landless People’s Movement deputy leader Henny Seibeb. Khomas regional commander Ismael Basson confirmed that the case was opened over the weekend when approached for comment yesterday. Ndjaronguru confirmed opening the case against Seibeb when contacted for comment but would not delve much into it, adding that he needed to consult his legal team before making any public comment.

LPM fights vandalism allegations - Politics

KEETMANSHOOP Tensions are running high in the Landless People s Movement (LPM) as the party deals with the aftermath of deputy leader, Henny Seibeb, being dragged from the National Assembly recently. This while allegations have arisen from Swapo s Keetmanshoop office that the LPM might have had a hand in vandalism. On Friday, 16 April, Swapo s southern office was broken into and vandalised in what is believed to have been an arson attempt. According to LPM, the ruling party is alleging that they had a hand in the attempt to burn down the office. “[Matheus] Mumbala is claiming that LPM was involved in the attempt to commit arson at their office. They misadvised the secretary-general of Swapo. There aren t even any policy papers in that office, why would we want to burn the place?” Seibeb asked on Sunday.
