About 400 homes were threatened as the fire grew on July 1, but no structures were lost. Kamloops Fire Rescue Chief Steve Robinson said the department is monitoring blazes in proximity to Kamloops and is ready to respond should the need arise. Structure protection units brought in have been released back to the province, but may be recalled if needed. “I’m extremely proud of everybody,” Robinson said. “The dedication and work of all staff has been exemplary.” The City of Kamloops Emergency Operations Centre will continue to support the fire suppression crews and Emergency Support Services operations. Meanwhile, a call by the City of Kamloops for residents to reduce irrigation so firefighters would have water to fight fires has been rescinded.
