Taipei, Feb. 7 (CNA) Taiwan on Monday reported two new domestic COVID-19 cases, and reclassified three previously recorded cases as domestic after confirming the individuals involved were infected during stays in quarantine hotels.
Fourteen new domestic cases of COVID-19 reported yesterday are all linked to previously reported infection clusters, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) said.
The new cases were “relatively simple,” as all but one tested positive during quarantine, said Centers for Disease Control Deputy Director-General Chuang Jen-hsiang (莊人祥), who is the CECC’s spokesman.
The 14 local cases are seven Taoyuan residents, four Kaohsiung residents and three New Taipei City residents, Chuang said.
The Taoyuan cases are workers at Askey Computer Corp in Taoyuan’s Farglory Free Trade Zone (遠雄自由貿易港區) who tested positive upon ending isolation, he said.

The Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) yesterday reported 40 local COVID-19 cases, but said that the increased case count did not correspond with higher infection risk, as 33 of them tested positive during isolation.
The Taoyuan and Kaohsiung city governments yesterday announced that all preschools in the two municipalities would postpone their reopenings until after the Lunar New Year holiday to Feb. 14.

The Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) is investigating a potential COVID-19 cluster at a quarantine hotel in Kaohsiung, where four guests staying on the same floor were confirmed to have the virus between Sunday and yesterday, said Minister of Health and Welfare Chen Shih-chung (陳時中), who heads the center.
The Kaohsiung City Government has sent people quarantining at the hotel to government-run facilities, Chen said, adding that all guests who stayed at the hotel from Jan. 19 would undergo additional testing.
Kaohsiung Mayor Chen Chi-mai (陳其邁) said that one of the cases stayed in room 318 after returning to Taiwan from China
