Arizona Theatre Company Plans RomeroFest To Highlight Local Plays

Reply Feb. 1, 2021 Arizona Theatre Company (ATC), in collaboration with The Scoundrel & Scamp Theatre and Winding Road Theater Ensemble, is producing RomeroFest, a month-long celebration of the diverse, thoughtful and impactful works of ATC Playwright-in-Residence Elaine Romero with digital performances by theatre companies across the U.S. and in Mexico in March. Subscribe In the American theatre, we foolishly only do celebrations of a body of work when a playwright dies or moves away. Let s not wait for either with Elaine, said ATC Artistic Director Sean Daniels. Elaine Romero is an internationally produced and recognized playwright who chose to make Tucson her home. She has been Playwright-in-Residence at ATC for over 20 years. It s time for us to start celebrating the artists that are here, and how better to do that but by experiencing her work. She is an important voice of our generation – and just a ton of fun – so who doesn t want more Elaine around?

Opponents Say New 7-Eleven In Ronkonkoma Is 'Same Failed Formula'

UpdatedMon, Feb 1, 2021 at 5:57 pm ET Replies(3) A closed mini golf course may become the site of a new 7-Eleven in Ronkonkoma. (Google maps) RONKONKOMA, NY Opponents of a proposed 7-Eleven at 974 Portion Rd. in Ronkonkoma say the project does not reflect a land use plan designed to reduce unchecked commercial development in the area. The Town of Brookhaven is currently considering a proposal for the store and gas station at the site, once Village Green mini golf course, which closed in 2012. The proposal calls for a change of zoning from commercial recreation or residential to commercial. Anthony Portesy is vice chair of the Brookhaven Town Democratic Committee and he says he opposes the proposal, calling it the same failed formulas of the 1990s and early 200s leading to trading blighted property for blighted property.
