NEW DELHI: Wanted Islamic televangelist Dr Zakir Naik in his latest video has supported the demolition of an old Hindu temple in Pakistan s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa stating temples should not be allowed to be constructed in an Islamic country.
According to reports, Zakir quipped, When Muhaamad returned to kaaba, he broke almost 360 idols that were in Kaaba. In Islamic country, a statue or idol should not be made or if there is something, it should be broken. A statue should not be anywhere in an Islamic country and if it is somewhere it should be broken.
On December 30, a mob led by members of Pakistan s radical Islamist party demolished a temple and set it ablaze in the deeply conservative northwestern town of Karak in Khyber Pukhtunkhwa, Pakistan.

India conveyed serious concerns to Pakistan High Commission at repeated instances of similar nature, of atrocities against the members of the minority community. Centre has demanded that the Pakistan government should investigate the matter and take strict action against those responsible for vandalisation and demolition of the temple.

A mob of Pakistani Muslims attacked and set fire to a century-old Hindu temple Wednesday in the northwestern part of Pakistan, Reuters reported.
Muslim clerics in the reportedly had organized peaceful protests against an expansion of the temple, located in the Karak district, Reuters reported.
Hindus have been the largest non-Muslim population in the country since gaining independence from Britain in 1947. Then the subcontinent was partitioned into a Hindu-majority India and Muslim-majority Pakistan, according to Reuters.
Locals filmed people at the scene taking sledgehammers and stones to the building as dark smoke can be seen coming from the structure, according to Reuters.

A mob, reportedly led by clerics, on Wednesday vandalised a Hindu temple in the southern Karak district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, community leaders and police have confirmed. The temple, though no longer functional, is considered a revered pilgrimage site by the Hindu community.
Residents in the Terri area of Karak were not happy with the ongoing renovation and extension of the temple which is why they vandalised it before setting fire to it, according to the community leaders. The mob was too big for the local administration and police to confront.
