George A Romero s Dawn of The Dead

The most important horror film in modern cinema – arguably ever – was almost Night of the Flesh Eaters. But the producer of a similarly titled film, 1964’s Flesh Eaters, threatened legal action. The distributor of Night of the Flesh Eaters changed the title card on the print. It became Night of the Living Dead.
In George A Romero’s classic film, the formerly deceased cannibal ghouls (not yet zombies ) sink their teeth into more than flesh – also the psyche of Vietnam and Civil Rights-era America.
The film was produced by Image Ten, a band of friends-cum-filmmakers which included soon-to-be king of the dead Romero, co-writer John A Russo, Rudy Ricci, and producer/actor (“They’re coming to get you Barbara!”) Russell Streiner.
