Karonga District Hospital integrated disease surveillance and response officer Raymond Jereni says this month the hospital has registered three deaths resulting from rabid dogsโ bites. He said the deceased are a 25-year-old woman and two boys aged 5 and 11. โThis is a concern for us. We did not register any deaths related to rabies

Foundation for Community Support Services (Focus) has constructed a classroom block at Mpata Community Day Secondary School (CDSS) in Paramount Chief Kyungu in Karonga District. Speaking on Saturday during the handover of the facility to the school, Focus board chairperson Alfred Mwenifumbo said they embarked on the project to motivate girls to remain in school.

Karonga District Hospital HIV and Aids coordinator Thumbiko Munthali says HIV prevalence rate in the district has jumped from 4.5 percent in 2021 to 7.2 percent in 2022. Speaking in an interview on Saturday, he said the development comes against a background of several interventions such as the provision of condoms, pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP), voluntary
