They include an officer of the rank of an Assistant Commissioner of Police and a couple of inspectors who had allegedly connived with Aslam Halka, who had gone to Nepal to receive Liyakat Shah, a resident of Lolab in North Kashmir, official sources said. The NC leader said that the situation in the country is nothing better than anything better than an emergency. “The only difference is that Indira Gandhi had courage to call it an emergency but these days the situation is similar but it is not mentioned so. How much freedom do journalists enjoy? How many of you have been summoned to police stations?” said Abdullah adding, “No leader was arrested before elections after the emergency. Today every opposition leader who BJP sees as a threat is being arrested by some agency.”
