Tonight we begin with the devastation in maui. The heartbreak and loss continues on the island after a massive wildfir ravaged lahaina, becoming the deadliest fire in modern u. S. History. The death toll creeping towards 100. 93 lives lost in the fires. That number expected to grow as the National Guard continues recovery efforts. At least 1,000 people are feared missing. So far Authorities Say search and rescue teams have cleared 3 of lahaina. The crime search for missing people continues. Theres new scrutiny of the Emergency Alert system that failed to warn thousands about the fire headed their way. Nbc4 bay area Marianne Favro joins us from the newsroom with more. We talked with one woman in lahaina who told us the only warning she got about the fire was from the sound of personal home fire alarms going off on her street.
