ELLWOOD CITY – There will be no party politics in the May 18 primary race for Ellwood City Area School Board directors.
Still set to be one tough election, eight candidates are running as both Democrats and Republicans for five, four-year seats on the board.
Incumbents Kathy Galbreath McCommons, Barbara Wilson, Renee Pitrelli and Norm Boots will face off against former board member Kathleen Pansera and newcomers Claire Fauzey, Kathy Tillia and JoEllen Eichler in the primary, with all of the incumbents also defending their two-year seats in an unopposed race.
The first-timers are hoping to bring a new perspective to the district.
