those allegations going viral. a california judge sentencing kathleen sorensen to 30 days in jail earlier this week. she posted a video to instagram accusing the couple of attempting to abduct her two children, later admitting that was inaccurate. what sadie and eddie martinez are saying tonight about this whole ordeal. here s abc s zohreen shah. reporter: it started with a mother s terrifying allegations of child abduction that quickly went viral. monday of this week, my children were the targets of attempted kidnap. reporter: back in december, kathleen sorensen taking to social media, claiming this couple, seen in store surveillance video, followed her family in a california parking lot and tried to abduct her two children. i want to share that story with you in an effort to raise awareness as to what signs to look for, and to just encourage parents to be more aware of their surroundings. reporter: that couple, sadie and eddie martinez, later interviewed by bay area police,
months work release for filing a false police report. we were happy. we obviously feel bad that she s a mother and going to jail, but her lack of remorse for what she d done, hopefully this will teach her a lesson. reporter: the couple and sorensen s lawyer still differ about sorensen s story. she misperceived and misunderstood a series of random events, which were occurring around her, and made an honest report. instead of, you know, saying, hey, you know, i guess i m wrong, she doubled down and said, no, this did happen, and i want them arrested. we didn t even encounter her. so that to me is, those are lies. there s not a misunderstanding. reporter: and, rachel, you could hear the frustration in her voice. the couple says the way they see it, sorensen wanted to be an influencer. well, during her probation, she cannot be on social media, and she has to go through implicit bias training. rachel.
