Coach, leland sandler, started a sexual relationship with her when she was 16, often giving her drugs and writing notes like this to excuse her from class. He was a person in authority, and were still taught, you know, that you listen to people in authority and you respect them, and thats what i did. Eventually, wilson says her parents discovered the illicit relationship and confronted the principal at San Ramon Valley high school. The principal came up with told my parents that my four younger siblings would have to go to a Different School if this came out, and it would just be better for everybody if it didnt come out. So nobody ever contacted police. Wilson says her coach was allowed to stay on the condition he stop any physical relationship with her. What allegedly happened next still brings wilson to tears 30 years later. She says, the principal, james henderson, walked in on sandler having sex with her again. There is four different types of abuse that we as a country are grappling with. There is physical abuse. There is sexual abuse and Emotional Abuse where a child maybe exposed to violence in the home or they are being battery braetd. Where do we stand in the San Francisco area . Its shocking, in fact San Francisco has the highest child abuse rate in the bay area. 10 thousand kids are supposed to violence. Any reason why . We have a very low child population. Things different we need to do more to prevent kids from falling through the cracks using data i had given the Closing Argument and the victim in the case was a mother of 8 who lost one of her sons to gang violence. Awhile i fought in the courtroom i was haunted by what was happening to her other children. When we were addressing the impacts on her children at home and as fate had it shortly after that trial that ended i met one of my heros dr. Harris and other person said we have to do better weve heard about the dismal statistics but we have a change to do Something Different and know the impact of toxic stress and this is a place were there this is going to end and were going to screen the kids and bring the best and bright you mind to serve the kid. Together well transform the lives of kids giving them a fair shot to grow up to giggle, to run and leap along the way every child deserves that chance. I ask that Nadine Harris join me. And then ail talk about tours im here to say thank
