Three earthquakes woke many across the Los Angeles area before sunrise Monday.
The first, a magnitude 3.3 quake, struck at 4:15 a.m. near Inglewood, a city in southwest Los Angeles County, according to the United States Geological Survey. This was quickly followed by a very small magnitude 2.5 aftershock near to where the initial quake struck. A larger magnitude 4.0 temblor hit at 4:44 a.m. in the same area.
The epicenters were about nine miles south of Los Angeles.
While there were no reports of any damage, the quakes were widely felt and nearly 5,000 people reported feeling the magnitude 4.0 shaker to the USGS.
