The Knox-Galesburg Symphony is ready to open its 70th concert season this weekend. And it's a season of change for the KGS. While the organization has worked to stay active, and even opened its own permanent headquarters on S. Seminary St., the bulk of its concerts have been hampered since the break out of COVID-19. Now they've got a full symphony season planned with a new conductor and new facility. Kedrick Armstrong was recently appointed as Creative Partner and Principal Conductor of the Galesburg Symphony Society/Knox-Galesburg Symphony. In this role, he'll provide oversight and continuity over all Galesburg Symphony Society orchestral, chamber, and community programming. Also, after years of holding KGS concerts at the Orpheum Theater, they'll now use Galesburg High School's newly renovated Hegg Performing Arts Center.
