Our Correspondent Kohima, June 3 (EMN): To mark World Environment Day, which falls on June 5, the Angami Youth Organisation (AYO) will plant at least 10,000 tree saplings across Angami villages under the banner ‘plant for life’ today, Saturday. Convenor of the initiative, Zakie Khate said that the idea was to plant at least 100 plants each in all the 104 (mother) villages within the Angami jurisdiction. ‘If 100 villages can plant 100 trees each trees, than we are looking at planting of 10,000 trees on the eve of World Environment Day,’ he said, adding that the villagers will take the responsibility of nurturing the saplings and advised to plant suitable land. President of AYO, Kekhrie Pfukha said the initiative is a “committed venture” to save nature through restoration efforts and called upon the people to workrowards a constructive and progressive future.
