More than 600 pregnant women in the Central Division have contracted COVID-19. Head of Obstetrics and Gynecology Head at the Colonial War Memorial Hospital, Dr Kelera Sakumeni in a webinar said seven out of every ten pregnant women at the hospital have tested positive for coronavirus. Sakumeni said she feels more pregnant women have contracted the virus but have not been diagnosed for it yet. “I feel that this is a small number and there is a much bigger number out there because the women that are getting diagnosed are the ones that are coming into maternity. “The women are swabbed upon arrival before admission, this is the protocol in place at the Colonial War Memorial Hospital,” she said.
