Career-shadowing program pairs teens with Denver Water employees.


The annual poinsettia and Christmas cactus sale sponsored by the League of Women Voters of Chaffee County has once again generated a significant profit to fund 2023 programs.

Chamber music in Jacksonville is alive and well with several groups performing classical music in intimate settings.

The League of Women Voters of Chaffee County announced it plans to offer new programs this year to explore major local, state and national issues.

Sales will continue through Monday, May 24 with socially distanced pickup June 2. The 1-gallon pots are still only $16, event organizers Jean Gabardi and Ellen Olson said. The geraniums will be available in four colors – red, pink, salmon and new this year, white. The event organizers note that this is one of two fundraisers for LWV’s free activities. As poinsettias are tropical plants, failure of the heater in the trailer triggered a series of last minute/second changes.
