. with the points raised by all the posters here so far. BEFORE there can be any talk of Rates increase, there HAS TO BE talk of admin savings, efficiency increase, transparency, answerability, and NO SUGGESTION of wage increases for TCC Councillors or staff until there is a performance increase to justify it.

Clout always has a ’but’ to add and so the division continues. Get rid the lot of them and start again. Tenby had the right ideas and direction but perhaps went about it the wrong way due to the divided, appalling, self agendered others. You can only pull in every direction for so long before everything drips and falls completely apart. Now it’s time to rebuild which in the demolition stage of the process could get messy and will need the inevitable rates rise. Onwards and upwards.

A commission soon to be appointed to govern the Tauranga City Council could be in place for up to five years, documents from the Department of Internal Affairs show. On Tuesday, the department released 68 pages of documents charting the Crown s decision to intervene in the troubled Tauranga City Council by appointing a commission following a turbulent year of bitter infighting.

A third Tauranga City Council elected representative has resigned in as many months, with the aim of avoiding a fiasco byelection before a commission is installed next year. Following Heidi Hughes resignation today, the byelection has been postponed until next year, but was expected to be cancelled by the appointment of commissioners before the nomination period ended.
Hughes told the Bay of Plenty Times the main reason she resigned was to avoid a messy and confusing byelection. It was going to be such a fiasco of a byelection . and $250,000 is an enormous sum of money.

Tauranga City councillor Heidi Hughes has resigned in the hope of avoiding an expensive byelection that was set to run even with a commission due to replace the council in the new year.
Acting Tauranga mayor Tina Salisbury said Hughes had resigned this morning, effective immediately. Salisbury said Hughes decision was selfless .
The decision followed advice that another resignation was the only way to delay the in-progress byelection, apart from all nominated candidates withdrawing.
Nominations closed at midday today. As of 2.30pm, the council s candidate page lists four nominees for the mayoral position - Brian Friend, Kelvin Clout, Jos Nagels and Greg Brownless - and two for the councillor position, Kim Williams and Murray Guy.
