The number of people contacting SouthDoc in Kerry over the Christmas period was lower than in 2019. Across both Cork and Kerry, the number of people who contacted SouthDoc during 2020 is almost 20% lower than in 2019. At the Kenmare Municipal District meeting, independent councillor Dan McCarthy sought an update on these works. He says they will be hugely beneficial to both Kenmare and Killarney.  These works are being funded by an Outdoor Recreation Infrastructure Grant of €200,000.  Cllr Dan McCarthy also raised concerns regarding the lack of parking facilities on the Kenmare side; he says cars parking on the side of the road are preventing tractors and lorries from passing by.

Kerry will not see the return of American tourists next Summer. That’s according to Sarah Durkin of Kenmare Marketing and Events Group. Ms Durkin says international tourism was decimated by the Covid-19 pandemic and it will take time before it returns to 2019 levels. She says it has huge implications for Kerry towns that depend on the American market.
