Kennebec Valley Community College spearheading efforts to give COVID-19 training to child care providers The course will teach providers core skills on how to safely operate child care facilities as the COVID-19 pandemic continues. Share FAIRFIELD Kennebec Valley Community College officials said Wednesday they’re launching a new online course for child care providers to help keep children and families safe as the coronavirus pandemic continues a year later. The Childcare Provider Foundations course aims to teach safe practices and procedures, in collaboration with Kennebec Valley Community Action Program, Educare, Maine Department of Health & Human Services and Maine Roads to Quality. KVCC is spearheading the development of training that will provide knowledge of foundational practice necessary in response to COVID-19.

Now, the commerce and technology center off Kennedy Memorial Drive in Oakland is working to deliver greater return on its member communities’ investments in the park by boosting tax revenues and selling more lots at the 285-acre campus. Last week, the business park made its final bond payment to the Maine Municipal Bond Bank, wrapping up the 20-year loan the park and its 24 municipal members signed with the intention of gaining a source of tax revenue.

Pixelle Specialty Solutions, the mill owner, and the Maine Community College System announced Friday that 177 displaced workers have until next July to access the free classes. The chief workforce development officer for the community college system, Dan Belyea, said in a prepared statement that Pixelle’s $1 million education fund presents an amazing opportunity.
