Kennedy School of Music choir director Cleo McNaught said the Nightingales sung in five areas of the hospital during the one hour and 15 minutes they were there on Tuesday. ”We finished up in the main foyer area singing in front of the gift shop, so the sound would travel round the areas there. ”Seeing the happy faces, the people and nurses joining in was great . we’ll definitely be back next year.”

Music school owner Kelly Kennedy said with the Christmas lights as a backdrop, it was a perfect setting. “It’s good for everybody to come together, especially after the year we’ve had . a lovely way to finish the year.”

Kennedy School of Music owner Kelly Kennedy built her business up from scratch. It was the fourth year the singers had entertained outside Tattersfield’s house. She is a member of the Nightingales. Kennedy started the music school in a spare room of her home in 2010 after she and husband Gareth Kennedy returned to Invercargill. The previous five years they were Emirates Airline cabin crew based in Dubai.
