IDAHO FALLS Weapon and drug charges were dismissed against an Ammon man, but he was ordered to pay a $541.50 fine for possession of drug paraphernalia.
Robert Lee Hornsby, 26, was arrested on Dec. 27 after he allegedly fired a gun at an apartment complex on the 1500 block of Alice Avenue in Idaho Falls.
A witness subpoenaed by the prosecutor did not appear at a preliminary hearing, Bonneville County Chief Deputy Prosecuting Attorney H. Alayne Bean told EastIdahoNews.com. The hearing was rescheduled, and the witness was again subpoenaed, but again did not show up.

IDAHO FALLS An Idaho Falls man sat stonefaced as investigators and a witness testified of the night he allegedly slit the throat of a roommate and killed him.
Douglass Taylor, 32, appeared in a Bonneville County courtroom on Thursday for his preliminary hearing. Taylor is charged with first-degree murder. Investigators say that on March 10, 2020, he killed his 51-year-old roommate, Hermann Hans Woerrlein, originally from Germany. Woerrlein was traveling around the United States but had been living in the home for a few months.

Douglass Taylor, 32, is facing punishment for a crime he allegedly committed 10-months ago at a rehabilitation residence on Higbee Avenue in Idaho Falls, according to details shared by eastidahonews.com. The incident occurred on March 10, 2020, and involved Taylor and a 51-year-old fellow resident at the home, which provides shelter for people dealing with mental illness.
The victim, who is of German descent, reportedly has his throat cut during the altercation, according to eastidahonews.com. Taylor appeared in the Bonneville County Courthouse on January 14 for a preliminary hearing. Judge Kent Gauchay, after finding sufficient evidence in the matter, requested the case be heard at a higher court.
Man gets probation after scuffle with first responders

IDAHO FALLS A Utah man police found sleeping next to an ATM will spend time on probation after getting into a scuffle with first responders.
Last week, Samuel Brinkerhoff, 21, pleaded guilty to misdemeanor assault and battery on certain personnel. Magistrate Judge Kent Gauchay placed him on 18 months of supervised probation.
As part of a plea agreement, a felony assault and battery on certain personnel charge was amended to a misdemeanor. A misdemeanor resisting arrested charge was also dismissed by prosecutors.
Gauchay suspended 223 days of a 270-day jail sentence for Brinkerhoff. The man had already spent 43 days in the Bonneville County Jail, which he was given credit for. Officials released him to probation last week.
