Aberdeen voters went to the polls Tuesday to choose the person who will complete the remainder of the previous mayor s term.

ABERDEEN, Miss. (WTVA) Aberdeen voters will return to the polls in three weeks to decide who should be the city s next mayor.
Unofficial results show there will be a runoff between Doug Stone and Charles Scott.
Stone got 44 percent, and Scott got 32 percent in Tuesday s voting.
There were 227 absentee ballots in the special election, but 44 were not accepted for a variety of reasons.

ABERDEEN, Miss. (WTVA) People in Aberdeen will soon choose a new mayor. Former Mayor Maurice Howard was removed from office after he pleaded guilty to embezzlement.
On Tuesday, March 9, 2021, four of the six candidates met at the Elkin Theater across from Aberdeen s City Hall for a debate.

One of the candidates is Kenyatta Howard, wife of the now former mayor.
Reverend James A. Cook is President of the Aberdeen/Monroe County NAACP spoke at the debate.
