Acting County Clerk Declares Emergency For Ward 2 By-Election

An emergency has been declared in regards to the Ward 2 by-election. The declaration is pursuant to section 53 of the Municipal Elections Act and was issued by Kevin Klingenberg, Acting County Clerk. The declaration was determined necessary after consultation with the Haldimand-Norfolk Health Unit on the additional requirements needed to safely administer a by-election during the province-wide lockdown. Initial measures will first impact candidates to ensure they may be safely nominated and in adherence with lockdown public health measures. Candidates will be advised of any necessary amendments to existing nomination requirements as soon as they are made. The health, safety and councillor representation of Ward 2 residents are the primary consideration of the emergency declaration.

County Clerk Andy Grozelle Is Leaving Norfolk County

Norfolk County’s long time county clerk is leaving. After 7-years with Norfolk, Andy Grozelle is moving on. Grozelle is responsible for the Clerks and By-Law department that provides a wide range of services to Council, the public and County staff, including advising Council on legislative matters, recording Council minutes and decisions, ensuring the public has access to municipal records, and administering elections. Grozelle will be taking a larger leadership role elsewhere, but could not disclose the new location at this time. His last day with Norfolk County will be Feb. 26. Deputy Clerk Kevin Klingenberg will serve as clerk for upcoming meetings of Council.
