Kistensamy claims early African Amateur lead
DOWERGLEN, 8 February 2021 – A blaze of birdies on his back nine boosted KwaZulu-Natal teenager Kyle Kistensamy to the summit of a congested first round leaderboard in the African Amateur Stroke Play Championship at Glendower Golf Club on Monday.
After the soggy build-up over the last two weeks, the clear skies and the sun dappling through the trees brought an air of expectation of something special to come as.
Kistensamy burst from the blocks with a birdie start on the par four 10th and the 19-year-old edged into the sole lead with further gains on 15 and 16, but for a while it looked as if he would be eclipsed after bogeys on the first and third holes.

The Mossel Bay golfer opened the tournament with a flawless eight-under-par 64. Following rounds of 65 and 66, he started the final round on the Firethorn Course seven strokes clear of fellow GolfRSA National Squad member Kieron van Wyk and nine ahead of Christiaan Maas and defending champion Casey Jarvis.

RANDPARK, 2 February 2021 – Mossel Bay’s Martin Vorster stepped up his bid to win the South African Stroke Play title in Tuesday’s second round at Randpark Golf Club.
Vorster opened his campaign on the Firethorn course with flawless 64. On another day of heavy rain, the GolfRSA National Squad member picked up where he left off the previous day with an eagle on the par-5 third.
