YOURSAY | What can be achieved in five days of Parliament sitting?

Hmmmmmmmm: It looks very much like a quarrel between two children. One of them wants his toy back but the other doesn't want to give it back. When one of the parents threatens the child to give the toy back to the other child, he damages the toy and tells him, “Now you can have it.”
So, I guess now all the speechwriters for the ministers are busy writing up the speeches to present in Parliament. Many of the ministers would probably see the speeches for the first time while presenting them. They wouldn't know or understand the content, having no part in preparing the speeches, promising actions which they do not either understand or intend to keep.

Manjit Bhatia: Political scientist Wong Chin Huat said: "To break the stalemate without breaking democracy, there are only two realistic solutions: first, Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin reaching out to the opposition, whether Pakatan Harapan, Warisan or other minor parties for a Confidence and Supply Agreement (CSA) to secure a comfortable majority that enables governance.
“Second, Umno reaching out to Harapan to gather a positive majority and go to the palace."
Forget the second option. It's a long shot. Too long, too desperate and too many "voters" will read it for what it is not.

Apa Nama: Whatever we could say about this vaccine supply, whether we support coordinating minister for National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme Khairy Jamaluddin or not, we cannot run away from one thing - our leaders should know that we are facing a health emergency.
What surprised me most is all these people (the prime minister and his cabinet ministers) do not seem to treat the pandemic as a health emergency. We know where their mind is on daily basis. It is not about vaccine supply. It is their survival, political survival.

The Wakandan: Mild-mannered Anthony Loke is a diplomat compared to the fiery Lim Guan Eng. In terms of getting things done, both have their own good and bad points, which entirely depends on the time and place that their attributes would be most appropriate.
However, the DAP change of guard can be a good thing to avoid being dominated by the same leadership perpetually and to allow new leaders, ideas and styles to prevail.
FellowMalaysian: Loke isn't picked to become the next DAP leader overnight as there is no shortage of able leaders capable of helming and taking the party to the next generation.

YOURSAY | 'If we have more MPs of such stature, there is still hope for a very bright future...'
Public Transit Is Better Than Highways: As someone who has had the opportunity to meet Deputy Speaker Azalina Othman Said in person, I can comment that she is a sharp, intelligent and overtly liberal than her BN counterparts, which sometimes makes me question whether if she, like her colleague Khairy Jamaluddin, is stepping out of the party line.
However, her letter delivered to the attorney-general and the Prime Minister’s Office is a sharp rebuttal against this treacherous act of preventing democracy by suspending parliamentary and legislative houses in every state. If I were to guess who had written this piece from the BN, with the name omitted, I would’ve suggested Azalina.
