CENTRAL LAKE – President Joe Biden toured an orchard in northern Michigan on Saturday, the eve of the nation s 245th birthday, talking to workers and a crowd who d gathered in the fields of strawberries and raspberries across from rows of neatly planted cherry trees.
He hugged Jose Sebastian, an immigrant from Guatemala who has worked for three decades at King Orchards, a busy, 400-acre farm and U-pick hotspot about 35 miles northeast of Traverse City.
Sebastian and his wife, Maria Pascual, stopped picking cherries for a few minutes to talk with the president, who told them, We re a nation of immigrants, every one of us.

There’s been a huge ransomware attack which experts are terming a “colossal and devastating supply chain attack.”
According to Bloomberg News, the cyberattack targeted managed-service providers (MSPs), which provide IT services to small and medium sized businesses. It’s affected a lot of companies, at least 1,000 in this country so far and growing. Experts believe thousands are affected.
In Sweden, most of grocery chain Coop’s more than 800 stores couldn’t open on Saturday after the attack led to a malfunction of their cash registers, spokesperson Therese Knapp told Bloomberg News.
There are victims in 17 countries so far, including the U.K., South Africa, Canada, Argentina, Mexico and Spain, according to Aryeh Goretsky, a distinguished researcher at cybersecurity firm ESET.
