A four-star hotel in Kisumu owned by William Osewe of the popular Ranalo Food chain has been saved from auction over a Sh328 million bank loan.
Court of Appeal Judges Hannah Okwengu, Patrick Kiage and Jamila Mohammed stopped Guaranty Trust Bank (Kenya) Ltd from auctioning the Blue Waters Hotel and a block of apartments in South C, Nairobi pending determination of a suit by Osewe and his wife Stella Mutheu Osewe.
The judges however ordered the couple to pay the bank Sh25 million as security pending their decision on February 5 2021.

Sh548m maritime rescue centre to be built in Kisumu

Summary
The centre will be used to coordinate search and rescue services, oil spill responses, information sharing and dissemination of weather forecasts.
Lake Victoria Basin Commission will construct a Sh548million maritime rescue co-ordination centre to deal with disasters such as oil spill.
The project, Multinational Lake Victoria Maritime Communications and Transport (MLVMCT), is being funded by African Development Bank.
Lake Victoria Basin Commission maritime safety officer Amos Ndoto said construction of the rescue coordination centre in Kisumu is a key milestone in efforts to deal with emergencies in the lake.
