NEW DELHI: Sweden Thursday said it is working closely with partners in India to get an understanding of what is required on the ground, saying the second wave of Covid-19 has hit hard and it is a humanitarian crisis and requires to be treated that way.
Team Sweden, which comprises the Swedish government, Swedish industry, businesses and agencies, has joined forces to help India fight the current devastating surge of the coronavirus, Sweden s Ambassador to India Klas Molin said. The second wave of Covid has hit hard and close to home, sparing no one. It is a humanitarian crisis and requires to be treated that way.

Swedish companies operating in India have lost employees and their family members to the pandemic and Stockholm is assessing the required aid that will be sent to deal with the humanitarian crisis.
“We are working closely with partners in India to get an understanding of what is required on ground. It is heartening to see so many stepping up to the challenge from government and large companies to individuals, including the Indian diaspora community in Sweden each contributing to make a difference,” said Ambassador of Sweden Klas Molin.

New Delhi, April 24 : The United States has joined the global Leadership Group for Industry Transition (LeadIT), which was launched by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Swedish counterpart Stefan Lofven at the UNSG Climate Action Summit in New York in 2019.
LeadIT is aimed at driving climate change in heavy and energy-intensive industries.
The announcement was made by US President Joe Biden at the Climate Summit 2021 on Friday, an official statement issued by the Embassy of Sweden said.
