It could be months before the impact of Proposition 211 is seen in Arizona, but experts are already hailing the new law aimed at exposing "dark money" in politics as a model for the rest of the nation.

Two groups are suing to block Proposition 211, which targets dark money in elections, arguing that it violates the right to free speech. 

For fiscal year 2012, the House Appropriations Committee recommended $357 million for the Edward Byrne Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) program (H.R. 2596). Byrne JAG grants, administered by the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA), can be used by state and local governments for 29 broad criminal justice purposes, including funding pretrial release services.[1]  

Voters in Arizona passed a ballot initiative on Tuesday known as the "Voters’ Right to Know Act" that will crack down on so-called "dark money" in elections.

Three out of four voters approved Prop. 211, demanding that fat cats who fund dark money campaigns come out from behind the bushes. No surprise there.

Proposition 211, the ballot measure requiring disclosure for political spending, takes strong lead in early returns.

If passed by voters, Arizonas Proposition 211 would require disclosure of the donors who give to an umbrella organization.
