The Knox County Unified Command Vaccine Center, located at the old Bergener's store, is closing at the end of this week. Beginning on Monday, September 12, Knox County's COVID-19 Vaccine Clinics will move to the Health Department, located at 1361 West Fremont St. With the move, vaccinations at the health department will be by appointment only on Mondays and Fridays from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm. Scheduling an appointment can be done by calling (309) 344-2224. "As we transition to providing COVID-19 vaccines into the Health Department, I want to thank the residents of Knox County and surrounding areas for helping to protect our community during the COVID-19 pandemic" states Michele Gabriel, Public Health Administrator. She adds that "getting vaccinated continues to be the best way to protect yourself, your family, friends, and your community. Knox County’s COVID-19 cases continue to decrease, with only 11 new cases reported from Friday through Monday. This brings the total number of cases in the county to 5,655.
