Demand for Alutiiq Museum s educational boxes on the rise | Local News

Kodiak’s Alutiiq Museum has seen demand skyrocket for their Alutiiq-language and culture education boxes as schools have turned to virtual learning during the pandemic.  “With the educational challenges presented by a global pandemic, we are finding that accessible resources like our education boxes are seeing increased demand,” said Djuna Davidson, the museum’s public programs manager. She added that the museum has also increased its publicity and outreach efforts related to the boxes.  While the museum typically averages about two rental requests per month, the staff has sent out 20 boxes in the past three months. The museum rents out boxes free of charge for two weeks at a time to anyone who requests them.
