Made a decision to plead guilty and i think the filings lasted about three days. The mueller plea came in less than two weeks. So things can move really quickly, but i dont have any indication from my reporting there could any kind of change. Thats not to say there wont be. Thank you for being here, emily. Much appreciated. Thank you. That does it for us tonight. See you again i dont know in five minutes. Now its time for the last word with lawrence odonnell. Good evening, rachel. And its fascinating to see these two different cohens in these two different cases, the two different pleadings. And if you read all the documents, they actually make sense. I mean, when i was just hearing the first reports of this across the television this afternoon, i said, wow, it was such a different interpretation of this guy from the two different sets of prosecutors but he behaved very differently with each set of prosecutors. And the expectations were different in the two different offices. What dan
And i said, chris, sadly, i think this is who we are. What i said is this is not who we were when were at our best. Its not who we should be. But sadly this is who we are now. This is the thing that galls me the most. Every time you point out something thats happening now that is that should not be happening, the kneejerk response is, well, obama did it. Well, somebody else did it. You know, well, Hillary Clinton. And no one wants to take responsibility for whats happening now. None of the people that they always blame, the kneejerk response to go back to about well, this person did it back in this, and this happened in this administration. None of these people are in power now. When the previous administrations were doing it, if they were, then people took notice. Maybe they did for some instances. Maybe they didnt. But the outrage in that time was seen, and it happened then. That was then. This is now. Cant we deal with whats happening now . Yeah. I mean, look, its an excuse, don. I

And Robert Mueller. Manafort now stands accused of lying to the feds. He is facing years in a federal penitentiary. The journal reports manaforts alleged lies have to do with his personal business ties and his work pre2016. Manafort allegedly made inaccurate statements about his communications with Konstantin Kilimnik said people familiar with the matter. Mr. Kilimnik, who mr. Mueller charged earlier this year along with mr. Manafort, was trying to influence the testimony of two witnesses against mr. Manafort. This worked for mr. Manaforts lobbying firm in ukraine. Manafort also allegedly misrepresented information about payments he received related to his lobbying work. We may find out more about whats next for manafort at the end of this week when a judge is expected to set a sentencing date for him. This week we also learned manaforts lawyers have been communicating with trumps legal team, all while manafort was cooperating with the government. Trump lead counsel Rudy Giuliani told
So lets just jump right in. There are two major figures in the president s orbit whose legal worries got much worse today for themselves and whose relationship to the overall scandal involving the president somewhat changed today. One of them is the president s Campaign Chair, Paul Manafort. And one of them is the president s longtime personal lawyer who served for a decade as a Senior Executive at the president S Real Estate business. Now heading into today, we had expected that the filing from prosecutors in the manafort case might be the one that would advance our understanding of the scandal and the status of the investigation the most. It would help us understand any further potential prosecutions, for example, more than anything else weve seen thus far. We do now have the manafort filing as promised. The special counsel in that filing lays out for the benefit of the judge and in the manafort case what mueller and his team say are the lies of Paul Manafort since hes been supposedl
