Hosted by the Whitefish Lake Institute every four years, the conference brings together professionals from different sectors, including students and community members.
Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribal Chairman Tom McDonald said that while the statement was “encouraging,” he added that “a vague commitment to ‘work together’ is not enough.”
“(This) helps our people continue forward, which is what our ancestors always fought for — a better tomorrow,” said Lauren Monroe Jr., vice-chair of the Blackfeet Tribal Council.
