A cohort of Australian business and political leaders filed into St Maryâs Cathedral in Sydney from 9.30am on Thursday to farewell fashion icon Carla Zampatti during a state funeral.
Zampatti, who founded her eponymous company in 1965, was known for her trailblazing designs and for forging her way in business at a time when few women did.
The church was adorned with hundreds of white orchids by Grandiflora. Three of Ms Zampattiâs nine grandchildren placed the Christian symbols on the black casket during the funeral.
Thereâs barely a high-profile female leader in Australia who doesnât wear Zampattiâs clothes, and her funeral reflected a strong roll call with Harvey Norman CEO Katie Page; Crown director Helen Coonan, executive director of Korn Ferry Katie Lahey, and former politician Bronwyn Bishop all filing into the church early on, along with former foreign minister Julie Bishop, and the Consul General of Italy Andrea De Felip were also in at
