The scandal at Nihon University has fuelled anger among the Japanese public, prompting the resignation of a top official and its 83-year-old American football team to be disbanded.
Nihon University will disband its American football team following a prolonged drug scandal that has led to the arrests of three players, sources said Nov. 28.
A 21-year-old member of Nihon University's American football team was arrested Aug. 5 for alleged possession of cannabis and an illegal stimulant, investigative sources said.
