1. NXT Champion Karrion Kross (w/Scarlett) vs. Austin Theory (w/Johnny Gargano) in a non-title match. Theory landed a dropkick on Kross, but Kross shrugged it off. Kross hit Theory with a Yakuza Kick and then tossed him around the ring. Kross dominated Theory for a stretch. Theory tried to make a comeback after a boot, but Kross hit Theory with a Doomsday Saito. Kross went for another Saito but Theory raked Kross’s eye when Gargano distracted the Referee. Theory tossed Kross into the barricade and spiked Kross into the ground at ringside.
The quarterfinals of the men s Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic will kick off on NXT next week.
WWE has announced that the next round of the men s Dusty Classic will begin with MSK vs. Drake Maverick & Killian Dain and The Grizzled Young Veterans vs. Kushida & Leon Ruff taking place on NXT next Wednesday. Kushida & Ruff advanced in the tournament by defeating NXT North American Champion Johnny Gargano & Austin Theory in a first round match on NXT tonight.
MSK and The Grizzled Young Veterans both won first round matches on last week s NXT, while Maverick & Dain advanced by winning a first round match on last Friday s 205 Live. MSK made their debut by defeating Isaiah Swerve Scott & Jake Atlas, The Grizzled Young Veterans defeated Ever-Rise, and Maverick & Dain defeated Curt Stallion & August Grey.

– Tonight’s WWE NXT episode opens up on the USA Network with a look back at the 2021 Men’s Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic kicking off last week. We also get hype for the Women’s Dusty Classic, which kicks off tonight, and the Fight Pit main event between Tommaso Ciampa and Timothy Thatcher.
– We’re live from the Capitol Wrestling Center at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida as Vic Joseph welcomes us. He’s joined at ringside by Wade Barrett and WWE Hall of Famer Beth Phoenix, who is making her return to ringside tonight after calling the action remotely due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Fans chant “NXT!” as we see the Fight Pit structure set up in part of the arena.

[Hour One] No intro video this week. The show immediately cut to Kushida and Leon Ruff already in the ring with Kushida getting his entrance theme playing. Vic Joseph, Wade Barrett, and Beth Phoenix were the commentary team…
1. “The Way” Johnny Gargano and Austin Theory (w/Candice LeRae, Indi Hartwell) vs. Kushida and Leon Ruff. Gargano and Theory did their no-look slow high five before the bell. Gargano teased starting the match before he quickly tagged in Theory to face off against Kushida. Kushida spanked Theory on the floor while toying with him in the chain wrestling sequence. Kushida dragged Theory to the ground and tagged in Leon Ruff for some follow up. Ruff did some parkour evasions on the corner to keep Theory under control. Theory took over the match after blindsiding a confident Ruff.
WWE NXT: Kyle O Reilly wins big, Rhea Ripley faces Toni Storm

Kyle O Reilly and Pete Dunne clashed to determine who will get to face WWE NXT Champion Finn Balor for his title.
ADVERTISEMENT O Reilly of The Undisputed Era and Dunne had a highly-competitive match on Wednesday that featured multiple reversals and submission holds.
O Reilly was able to counter an X-Plex attempt by Dunne on the ring apron. He then performed a Suplex that sent Dunne crashing to the ringside floor.
O Reilly tossed Dunne back into the ring and went to the top rope, where he connected with a knee strike to the back of Dunne s neck in order to win the hard-fought battle.
