2 arrested for raping teenager in Cox’s Bazar Star Digital Report Star Digital Report Two people were arrested on charges of raping a teenager in Ramu upazila of Cox s Bazar on April 26. The arrestees are the victim s stepfather and a CNG-run auto-rickshaw driver Saimon, reports our Cox s Bazar correspondent. Arup Kumar Chowdhury, officer-in-charge (investigation) of Ramu Police Station, said police rescued the victim from a house at Malapara Mitarchhara in Joarianala union and also arrested the duo from the scene. Saimon, who was in a relationship with the victim, took her to a community centre promising her of marriage where her stepfather, Saimon and Saimon s associate Kalu Miah raped her, the OC said.

ACC sues SI for amassing illegal wealth Our Correspondent, Bogura Our Correspondent, Bogura The Anti-Corruption Commission has filed a case against a police sub-inspector over acquiring properties worth Tk 39.13 lakh illegally. The accused is Md Alamgir Hossain, 43, an SI at Sonatala Police Station of Bogura. He hails from Shoulisbala village in Sirajganj s Raiganj upazila. Sudip Kumar Chowdhury, ACC deputy assistant director in Bogura, filed the case on Sunday. According to the case statement, Alamgir joined police service as a constable of Dhaka Metropolitan Police in 1997. Later, he was promoted as sub-inspector. He served at Bogura s Shajahanpur Police Station from 2013 to 2015 and at the Detective Branch of Bogura police from 2015 to 2018.
