Armies of India and Pakistan exchanged gunfire in the Machil sector of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Saturday.
According to officials Pakistan initiated an unprovoked ceasefire along the LoC in Machil and said a befitting reply is being given to them.
Meanwhile, SSP Kupwara Shriram Ambarkar also confirmed the ceasefire violation in the Machil sector and said no damage has been reported so far.
When this report was filed the firing was on in the area.
“The new system ensures that when any complaint is received, a unique ID No. is generated for the applicant / grievance holder. The complainants contact details, address, email ID etc is attached to a digital scan of the complaint and a gist of complaint is noted down in a database. Further the complaint is forwarded to the concerned police official with necessary directions for lawful disposal. The complainant receives a SMS based acknowledgement of the receipt of complaint along with all essential information regarding the name, rank, contact details of the police personnel to whom the complaint is assigned to. An SMS is also forwarded to the concerned Police Station/Post through the grievance cell along with all details of the complaint besides the directions issued from the cell,” the statement reads.

DGP reviews security arrangementsÂ
Jammu Tawi, Dec 18: A day after visiting South Kashmir, Director General of Police Dilbag Singh Friday visited Kupwara, Handwara and Baramulla and reviewed the security situation in these frontier districts.
Accompanied by Deputy Inspector General of North Kashmir Sulaiman Chowdary, the DGP chaired joint review meetings at these district headquarters.
Reviewing the security arrangements put in place by different security agencies for the 8th phase of District Development Council (DDC) and by-elections for Panchayat and Urban Local Bodies (ULB), the DGP stressed for strict and elaborate security arrangements around the polling booths for peaceful conduct of final phase of polling.
