Belarus is developing a research reactor, Chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus Vladimir Gusakov said on the sidelines of the Congress of Young Scientists of Belarus and Russia, BelTA has learned.
The scientific community of Belarus and Russia addresses practical problems for the real sector of the economy, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Belarus Boris Gryzlov said, BelTA learned from the Russian Embassy in Belarus.
“There is an idea to return to mobile nuclear reactors, mobile nuclear power plants. The documents have been preserved. A group has been put together to restore this unique invention. The Soviet Union was the first in the world to introduce mobile nuclear installations,” Vladimir Gusakov said.
President of the Kurchatov Institute Mikhail Kovalchuk said: “Cooperation vigorously develops. Belarus' official admission to the international center for neutron research on the basis of the high-flux reactor PIK in Gatchina is in progress now."
