Wayne County Farm Bureau delegates attended the annual Illinois Farm Bureau meeting recently in Chicago. 315 farmer delegates from 18 districts met in person to discuss, debate, and adopt policies for the coming year, and Wayne County delegates were successful in gaining adoption of all four of their policy resolution submissions, including language to encourage organizational efforts to improve industrial hemp contracts, encouraging the implementation of unique color and style lighting for turn signals on new farm equipment, opposing Conservator of the Peace designations for members of the Illinois General Assembly, and encouraging federal funding for rural-based cell networks. 27-year-old Mt. Vernon resident Ashton T. Harper was sentenced to prison yesterday in Wayne County Circuit Court by Judge Michael Molt.
